Summary | 0000457: Visual HOM and bad sprite position everywhere
Description | Ok, I better show a video because everything looks so wrong.... https://youtu.be/9e4apWeqm-I Bud doing a resume: -weapons doesn't show. -Every menu/sbar/console sprite flickers. -alot of homs. -sprites rotating. -sprites at wrong positions. -sometimes the distance btw the sprite and you are always the same on screen. -changing the resolution doesn't fix nothing. -happens in windowed/fullscreen mode builds tested: GZDoom 1.9.0 OK GZDoom 2.0.05 OK <---- problem started here GZDoom 2.1.0 NOK GZDoom 1.9.1 OK Hardware Tested: AMD HD5450 Celeron 430 1,6GHz 2,5GB DDR2 Windows XP SP3. Latest AMD driver installed for XP.
Additional Information | Driver from 2013 Aida64 log from amd gpu: ram: 512mb pixel pipelines: 4 texture units: 8 clock: 650MHz unified shaders: 80 (5.0) directx 11 architeture: ATI Terascale 2 (VLIWS) CU: 2 SIMB BY CU: 1 CU CACHE: 8KB BY CU OpenGL: 4.2 -------------------------------------- adding -glversion 2 and 2.1 makes things more visible, BUT, every 2D display elemens is white, sometimes some walls are going to be black or not, and it`ll randomly crash without any kind of fatal error popup. -glversion 3 and 3.3 Works fine even with Qzdoom latest build.

Are your drivers up to date? If it starts with 2.1.0 it may be a problem with some more modern features not working.
It's the latest driver avaliable for xp :(. But I could try some older drivers... EDIT: the best old driver resulted this in glversion 2: http://imgur.com/njPmblH and glversion 3 and 4 works without map homs, but weapon and object sprites are invisible |
|
Sorry, but here you are out of luck. This cannot be fixed in the current code anymore because it is too far gone from a version that still used immediate mode. If you had a more modern OS with that card a driver update would do the job but here you are stuck with a really broken version. |
|
I could upgrade it to 7, BUT, that's not my main computer (it's a "rescue" computer). And this guy is running a hmm, 2006 celeron, so with xp it's kinda overkill (this guy gets even killed by facebook when browsing it D:) Maybe amd just gave up from testing opengl 4.x over xp and fixed the problem under vista/7 |
|
The most recent drivers for the Radeon HD5000 series do not have the problems you listed. Yes, AMD apparently dropped XP support before deprecating the hardware. Seeing this, I think I have to make this official for GZDoom as well: XP support comes as-is, with no guarantees that everything may work. |
