Summary0000356: Texture loading time increased?
DescriptionI don't know when or where, but on RelWithDebInfo at least, texture loading time has increased significantly, somehow.

AEoD is one such mod where it used to only take 6 seconds to load on my machine, but now it takes approximately double or triple that amount now, and I've no idea what caused it, but it was recent.

Note: It doesn't matter if the load succeeds or not, I'm simply pointing out the timing.

Have you tried different versions to find out since when this happens?

Okay. I went back as far as GZDoom 2.3, which I know back then it wasn't that slow. I hadn't updated to the latest Windows 10 Anniversary update. One thing I had forgotten about was Windows 10 Anniversary reset my profiles such as my color corrections on the intel display driver. I didn't realize it also reset my NVidia profile for my GZDoom.

Just another reason why this should be considered.

And yet despite repurposing the driver once more and all the settings, it's still slow to loading... Hmmm...

I am considering the patch - my problem with it is that I'd like to disable the items if no such hardware can be detected and I do not know yet how.

It simply sets an environment variable, and you need special drivers in order to even recognize it (which are available for the mobile chipsets). If it's the menu item that's troubling you, that can easily be removed.

At its default, it does not manipulate GZDoom's user environment in any way, so post-patch no one should even notice a change unless they try to change it in the menu.

What happens if you try to use it without a dual-GPU setup?

Nothing happens, but it has been bothering me that there's options in the menu that should be set on a need-to-have basis. For OpenGL 2.x I already hacked the menu but this needs to be done in a cleaner fashion as the amount of options increases.

Well if we're going to go that far, we might as well also hide OpenGL options in software and software options in OpenGL. I just watched a video of a guy who was confused about all the options available - and clearly did not make the distinction of what would work while he was in OpenGL mode...

The renderer options need to be better sorted, this was one of those issues which didn't sit well with ZDoom, but now it can be addressed. I wouldn't hide the options for the other renderer, but I would hide options for incompatible hardware.
