Summary0000489: [2.4.0] NoLightFade causes some sectors and objects to appear completely black
DescriptionThe only example I can provide, unfortunately, is Paranoic. See this thread. At first I thought it was a node problem since it flashes in and out, so every time I mention node problems I am actually talking about this issue.

To add to this discussion (especially for those without access to the DRDTeam forum post to which Rachael referred), I did some tests. I tested various light & fog configurations on Maps 14 and 23 on 2 computers, one with a dedicated video card, and the other with an integrated graphics chip. Here are the results:

A. MAP 14

1. Integrated Graphics Chip: No unwanted black textures under any combination of sector lighting & fog modes
2. Dedicated Graphics Card:

a. With fog off, no unwanted black textures under any sector lighting mode
b. With Legacy sector lighting mode, no unwanted black textures under any fog mode
c. With Software sector lighting mode, no unwanted black textures under any fog mode
d. With any other lighting mode, unwanted black textures appear (unless fog is off)

B. MAP 23

1. Integrated Graphics Chip:

a. With fog off, no unwanted black textures under any sector lighting mode
b. With Legacy sector lighting mode, no unwanted black textures under any fog mode
c. With any other lighting mode, unwanted black textures appear (unless fog is off)

2. Dedicated Graphics Card:

a. With fog off, no unwanted black textures under any sector lighting mode
b. With Legacy sector lighting mode, no unwanted black textures under any fog mode
c. With Software sector lighting mode, no unwanted black textures under any fog mode
d. With any other lighting mode, unwanted black textures appear (unless fog is off)

I need something I can test. This mod is way too large for testing.

The best I can suggest is that the 2 maps where this problem exists be split from the others to reduce file size. You're still going to need the resources of Paranoid and Paranoiac to test those 2 maps, so the size of everything will still be large.

Enjay converted Map 14 of Paranoiac using stock DooM2 textures. The file is attached as a zip. Refer to this thread on DRDTeam forums for where to go to see the problems. From the map start, run up the ramp and head towards the South West corner of the parking garage (where a bunch of Image symbols are), look back to the east and move around (approx x = -420, y = -850, z = 320). You should see the black texture effect happening.
