Just tried f4b0435 in case those last couple fixes were relevant, still crashed:

On a potentially related note: I could never get the version number to show up when I compile. It always says "GZDoom <unknown version> ()" in the window. Everything else runs fine.

EDIT: Then again if I try running, say, my LazyZom tutorial, it works fine and there's no crash, so it shouldn't something inherent to the way I'm compiling GZDoom.

The crash only seems to happen on the first tic of a map. If I start on the startup screen, I'm fine, if I go into console and warp to a map, I'm fine until I leave the console and the playsim does anything, if I go into console, warp to a map, then use changemap and leave the console, I'm still fine the next map loads.

Crash also happens with ZScript-free version of HD designed for release 2.3.2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6h2zx1VqbHfLU1hMWhxNmFhTDQ/view?usp=sharing

I suspect this is the same issue as https://mantis.zdoom.org/view.php?id=390 - simply returning false on that check breaks too many things!
